About Sri Chinmoy & His Musical Vision

Sri Chinmoy (1931–2007) was a spiritual teacher, poet, and composer. Sri Chinmoy (1931–2007) was a spiritual teacher, poet, and composer.  He composed thousands of songs — in Bengali and English — that reflect aspiration, peace, and a deep, inner longing.

He believed that music is a universal language of the heart. Through his life, he gave many concerts, often playing a wide variety of instruments — like flute, esraj, cello, harmonium, and synthesizer — in a meditative spirit.

One of his beautiful thoughts:

The whole world is blessed to have this music … his compositions invoke an atmosphere of unique serenity.

Sri Chinmoy
