Welcome to this series sharing four beautiful songs from Sri Chinmoy’s “O My Heart” collection. Sri Chinmoy wrote thousands of heartfelt songs full of hope, thanks, and inner light. They’re simple melodies that speak straight to your heart, helping you feel calm, peaceful, and a little brighter – whether you’re meditating, relaxing, or just going about your day.

These songs from “O My Heart” carry that gentle, uplifting feeling. Tanima, a longtime student of Sri Chinmoy and one of the early singers in his community, performs them here with real warmth and care. Her gentle, soulful voice makes each song feel alive and easy to connect with.

You can just listen quietly, hum along, or let the melodies play softly in the background — they bring a soft, happy lift to your day.

Featured this time:

Introduction to the Voice of Your Soul

Listening to the subtle Voice of Your Soul is one of the hardest yet most important tasks on the spiritual path. Even after years of meditation, many seekers still feel like strangers to their own inner guidance. Without aligning with the soul, spiritual efforts often remain incomplete and long-term fulfilment stays out of reach. In this episode of Spirit Matters, Abhinabha and Vajin unpack four practical and powerful ways to hear the soul and execute its will — even when the mind does not fully understand what is being asked.

Why the Soul’s Voice Is So Hard to Hear

Most of us live guided by thoughts, fears, impulses and habits rather than by soul-consciousness. When the mind, vital or physical body runs the show, life feels fragmented and confusing. The mind shouts, the vital pulls, the body resists — while the soul only whispers. This episode explores why the heart often knows something is right long before the thoughts catch up, and how we can learn to trust that quieter knowing.

The Five Inner Voices

A central teaching in the conversation is the clear distinction between the five inner voices:

The physical body (comfort, lethargy, cravings)

The vital (desire, power, excitement)

The mind (doubt, worry, comparison)

The heart (the closest messenger of the soul)

The soul itself (the part that never doubts and always knows the way)

Learning to recognise which voice is speaking is the first step toward true soul alignment. Only when the heart is given space can it transmit the soul’s message clearly.

Four Practical Ways to Hear and Follow the Soul

Drawing from Sri Chinmoy’s teachings and their own lived experience, the hosts offer four accessible approaches:

1. Meditation and Inner Silence

The most direct way to hear the Voice of Your Soul is through regular meditation. By quieting the mind, we create the inner space where the soul’s guidance can be felt. The episode emphasises that this does not always come as clear mental instructions. Often it arrives as a subtle feeling, a sense of rightness, or a quiet certainty.

2. Self-Giving and Service

Selfless service expands the heart and naturally aligns us with the soul’s will. When we give ourselves to a higher purpose without calculating personal gain, the ego softens and the soul’s influence grows stronger. Real spiritual growth, the hosts remind us, requires getting our hands dirty in the world of action.

3. Gratitude

Gratitude is described as an expansive force that dissolves resistance and transforms consciousness. A grateful heart becomes more receptive to the soul’s guidance. Even small daily expressions of gratitude can shift the inner atmosphere and make the soul’s voice easier to hear.

4. Childlike Attitude and Wonder

Reclaiming a childlike freshness, spontaneity and sense of wonder helps us stay open. The soul thrives in an atmosphere of simplicity and joy. When we lose this quality, the mind and vital quickly take over again.

Outer Obedience Versus Inner Obedience

The conversation also explores the difference between rigid outer rules and true inner obedience. Ancient scriptures and fixed doctrines often cannot fully address the complexity of modern life. Genuine spiritual guidance is individualised. Sri Chinmoy’s farm analogy is shared: different students need different “food” for their unique spiritual growth. The real goal is not blind following of external rules, but learning to listen to and obey one’s own highest self.

Stories of Obedience: Guru Nanak and Milarepa

Two powerful stories illustrate the transformative power of obedience. The tale of Guru Nanak shows devotion and surrender under testing circumstances. The story of Milarepa reveals how seemingly impossible tasks given by the guru can purify karma and lead to profound realisation. Both examples demonstrate that action — sometimes difficult and uncomfortable action — is essential for real transformation.

Living in the Divine Flow

One of the most liberating insights of the episode is that we can execute the soul’s will even without mentally knowing what the soul wants. By cultivating the four practices above, we gradually enter a divine flow. Life begins to move with greater harmony and less inner conflict. Decisions feel clearer, and the sense of being guided from within becomes stronger.

Previous Episodes in the Spirit Matters Series

This episode continues the rich tradition of practical spirituality offered by Spirit Matters. Explore more transformative conversations:

Final Reflections

Learning to hear the Voice of Your Soul is not an abstract mystical skill reserved for a few advanced seekers. It is a practical, learnable capacity that grows through sincere effort, silence, gratitude, self-giving and a childlike openness. When the soul leads, life regains its deeper meaning and fulfilment becomes a natural unfolding rather than a distant goal.

Introduction to Seven Minutes of Peace

Today, on the International Day of Peace, Sri Chinmoy’s global and simultaneous experience of peace is taking place. From 9:00 to 9:07 AM New York time, people around the world gather inwardly and outwardly to feel the downpour of peace. This simple yet powerful observance invites every peace-lover to pause, meditate and offer their heartfelt aspiration for a more harmonious world.

A Global Invitation

Around the world, the observance can be adjusted to local timeframes and needs. Peace lovers can participate individually or creatively adapt the seven minutes to their own setting.

Official website: www.minutesofpeace.org

The site includes practical suggestions for participation, peace meditation guidance, and a newly added option to receive a reminder.

The Origin of This Global Tradition

This special observance was inaugurated by Sri Chinmoy in 1984 at the United Nations on United Nations Day. As leader of the Peace Meditation at the United Nations, he offered a seven-minute lunchtime meditation that brought staff and delegates together in silence. Over the years it has grown into a worldwide event. In recent times it has been held on September 21, the International Day of Peace, timed to coincide with the spirit of the United Nations Peace Bell ceremony.

Sri Chinmoy’s Vision of Peace

Sri Chinmoy often reminded us that lasting peace begins within each individual. Two of his statements beautifully capture the spirit of today’s gathering:

As there can be no war
Without the war-mongers,
Even so, there can be no peace
Without the peace-lovers.
Sri Chinmoy, Ten Thousand Flower-Flames, Part 48, Agni Press, New York, 1982

Life’s battlefield will be all peace when the sound of the mind
Gives way to the silence of the heart.
Sri Chinmoy, Twenty-Seven Thousand Aspiration-Plants, part 90, Agni Press, New York, 1984

These words invite us not only to wish for peace but to become living instruments of it.

How to Participate

Anyone can join Seven Minutes of Peace:

Sit quietly and meditate for seven minutes.

Offer a silent prayer for world harmony.

Simply hold a sincere feeling of peace in the heart.

There is no requirement of special technique. The power of the observance lies in the collective aspiration of many hearts joining at the same moment.

The Deeper Meaning

Sri Chinmoy described himself as a student of peace. He felt that the most valuable contribution any person can make is the cultivation and sharing of inner peace. When many individuals consciously offer that peace at the same time, something subtle yet real takes place. The atmosphere of the Earth receives a collective gift of light and harmony.

A Continuing Tradition

For more than four decades, this annual observance has brought together people from dozens of countries. Governors, mayors and ordinary citizens have offered proclamations and joined the silence. The tradition continues today with the same sincerity that marked its beginning at the United Nations in 1984.

Final Reflections

On this International Day of Peace, the call is simple and clear: pause, become silent, and offer the peace of your heart to the world. May this collective meditation strengthen the aspiration for harmony in every participant and send a wave of light around the earth.

Introduction to the Sri Chinmoy Marathon at Rockland Lake

The 24th annual Sri Chinmoy Marathon took place on Monday, August 24, 2026, around the beautiful shores of Rockland Lake in Congers, New York. This popular Boston Qualifier drew runners from many countries to the scenic, pancake-flat course just 45 minutes north of New York City. Marathon photos are now available, along with the complete official results.

A Scenic and Fast Course

The Rockland Lake Marathon is known for its exceptionally flat and fast course. Runners complete a USATF-certified 2.95-mile loop around the lake. The marathon consists of one partial starting lap followed by eight full loops, creating a smooth and enjoyable race experience. The path was repaved in 2020 and remains free of potholes and cracks, making it ideal for personal bests and Boston Marathon qualification.

Photo Galleries & Official Results

Because so many excellent photographs were taken on race day, the organisers created two separate galleries:

View Main Photo Gallery

View Start, Finish & Awards Gallery

View Official Results

These galleries capture the energy of the start, the determination of runners on the course, the joy at the finish line, and the awards ceremony.

Previous Editions and Related Events

The Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team organises many races at Rockland Lake throughout the year, including the 12-Hour and 24-Hour races, the Midnight Marathon and half-marathons. Previous results and photo galleries from earlier editions of the marathon can be found on the official website:

us.srichinmoyraces.org

A Well-Organised Event

The Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team, in cooperation with the New York State Parks System, once again provided excellent race support. Premium aid stations were available every mile, custom medals were awarded to all finishers, and a post-race vegetarian meal was served. Free parking (for early arrivals), full medical support and a friendly atmosphere made the day enjoyable for both runners and volunteers.

International Participation

As in previous years, the race attracted an international field of runners from more than 30 countries. The combination of a fast course, beautiful lakeside scenery and the welcoming spirit of the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team continues to make this event a favourite among both local and visiting athletes.

Supporting a Greater Cause

All proceeds from the Rockland Lake Marathon support the Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race — the world’s longest certified road race. By participating, runners not only challenge themselves but also help sustain one of the most remarkable ultrarunning events on the planet.

Course Records and History

The men’s course record stands at 2:30:32 (Bahadur Szabo, Hungary, 2005). The women’s course record is 2:37:24 (Annie Heffernan, USA, 2023). Over the years the Rockland Lake Marathon has become a reliable Boston Qualifier and a highlight of the late-summer running calendar in the New York area.

Atmosphere and Community

Runners often comment on the peaceful yet focused atmosphere of the Rockland Lake Marathon. The combination of natural beauty, well-organised support and the underlying philosophy of self-transcendence creates a special experience. Many participants return year after year, drawn by both the fast course and the sense of community.

Final Reflections

The 24th annual Sri Chinmoy Marathon at Rockland Lake once again showed why this race holds a special place in the New York running calendar. Flat, fast, scenic and well-supported, it continues to attract runners seeking both performance and inspiration.
Introduction to Spiritual Teacher Guidance

Are gurus still relevant today? Why do I need a spiritual teacher after a spiritual awakening? These are crucial questions that arise once the initial dust of awakening has settled. Without proper Spiritual Teacher Guidance, it is easy to fall back into false fears and widespread misconceptions about gurus. In this episode of Spirit Matters, Abhinabha and Vajin take an honest and practical look at the necessity and value of a spiritual teacher on the path.

Why the Question Matters

After a spiritual awakening, many people feel they can continue alone. Others become cautious because of stories about false teachers and cults. Both reactions are understandable. Yet if you are serious about lasting spiritual growth, making an informed choice about guidance becomes essential. This conversation addresses the topic directly, drawing on more than 25 years of lived experience on a guru-guided path.

Distinguishing a Genuine Path from a Cult

One of the most useful parts of the episode is a clear and simple way to distinguish a cult from a genuine spiritual path. True spiritual teachers strengthen a person’s agency rather than diminish it. They encourage independent thinking, personal responsibility and inner growth. In contrast, unhealthy groups tend to control, isolate and create dependency. Understanding this difference helps remove unnecessary fear and allows seekers to approach the subject with greater clarity.

Guru-Devotion Versus Personality-Worship

Another important distinction the hosts explore is the difference between genuine guru-devotion and personality-worship. True devotion is directed toward the highest consciousness that the teacher embodies and transmits. It is not blind admiration of a personality. When practised sincerely, this form of devotion can become a fast and powerful track toward the Divine. The episode explains how this works in daily practice and why it is often misunderstood in modern culture.

What Actually Happens on a Guided Path

Drawing from their own long experience, Abhinabha and Vajin describe what it is really like to learn from a spiritual teacher. They speak about expansion, challenges, breakthroughs and the moments that push a person beyond old comfort zones. A genuine teacher does not remove difficulties; rather, he or she helps the student meet those difficulties with greater awareness and inner strength. Over time, this process builds resilience, clarity and a deeper connection to one’s own soul.

Strengthening Agency, Not Replacing It

A common misconception is that following a spiritual teacher means giving up one’s free will. The opposite is closer to the truth. Authentic Spiritual Teacher Guidance aims to awaken and strengthen the student’s own inner guidance. The teacher points the way, offers tools and holds a higher standard, but the real work remains with the individual. This approach fosters maturity rather than dependency.

Addressing Modern Scepticism

In today’s world, scepticism toward spiritual authority is widespread and often justified by past abuses. The episode does not ignore these concerns. Instead, it invites listeners to look beyond generalisations and examine the actual qualities of a path and a teacher. Lived experience, consistency over many years, and the tangible growth of students become more reliable indicators than media narratives or second-hand opinions.

Can You Walk the Path Alone?

Many people successfully practise meditation and self-inquiry without a formal teacher. At the same time, the right guidance can significantly accelerate progress and help avoid common pitfalls. The hosts explore both possibilities with honesty. They suggest that the decision is deeply personal and depends on the individual’s temperament, readiness and longing. What matters most is sincerity and the willingness to grow.

Practical Insights for Seekers

Throughout the conversation, practical points emerge. Listeners learn how to observe their own reactions to the idea of a teacher, how to test the atmosphere of a path, and how to recognise whether their sense of agency is increasing or decreasing. These simple checks can save years of confusion and help seekers move forward with greater confidence.

Final Reflections

The question of whether a spiritual teacher is needed cannot be answered by slogans or fear-based generalisations. It requires honest inquiry, personal experience and a clear understanding of what genuine guidance actually looks like. This episode of Spirit Matters offers exactly that — a grounded, open and experience-based exploration of Spiritual Teacher Guidance. For anyone standing at this important crossroads after awakening, the conversation provides clarity, courage and a deeper sense of what is possible.

Introduction to the Invitation

This video is a warm official invitation to the exhibition Jharna-Kala Fountain Art by Sri Chinmoy, taking place from 1 to 30 September 2026 in one of Prague’s most beautiful Baroque gardens. Step into the UNESCO-listed Vrtba Garden (Vrtbovská zahrada) at Karmelitská 25, Prague 1 – Malá Strana, and discover art that speaks directly to the heart. The exhibition offers a quiet oasis of peace in the middle of the city and a chance to pause, slow down and enjoy beauty born of meditation.

What Is Jharna-Kala – Fountain Art?

Sri Chinmoy (1931–2007) was a globally respected humanitarian, philosopher, musician and artist who was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his lifelong dedication to peace. He called his artwork Jharna-Kala, meaning “Fountain Art.” This art does not arise from intellectual self-expression, nor does it belong to any particular artistic movement. Instead, it flows spontaneously from the profound inner silence of meditation. Each work carries a living quality of peace, light and upliftment that can be felt by the viewer.

Exhibition Details

Highlights of the Exhibition

The exhibition features several rare and meaningful collections:

The World Harmony series, originally shown at the United Nations

A new selection of Messages for Humanity

A rare set of Chinese Scrolls displayed to the public for the very first time

An exclusive outdoor presentation of originals from the Dream-Freedom-Peace-Birds collection, previously exhibited at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris

These Peace Birds, placed in the garden itself, beautifully symbolise the soul and carry an uplifting feeling of inner freedom.

Under the Patronage of Maestro Debashish Chaudhuri

The exhibition is held under the gracious honorary patronage of the distinguished Indian conductor Maestro Debashish Chaudhuri. In today’s turbulent times, the organisers wish to build a bridge of inner peace and unity, echoing the timeless universal message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — “The World Is One Family.”

A Unique Artistic Voice

Martin Kemp, Professor of the History of Art at the University of Oxford and a leading international expert on Leonardo da Vinci, has said of Sri Chinmoy’s work:

“His art is extraordinary and unique. It is unlike anything I have ever seen.”

This recognition from one of the world’s foremost art historians underlines the special quality of Jharna-Kala Fountain Art. It stands outside conventional categories and speaks directly to the heart.

Why Visit This Exhibition

In a busy city, an exhibition that invites visitors to slow down and experience peace is a precious gift. The combination of Sri Chinmoy’s spontaneously created artworks and the serene Baroque setting of the Vrtba Garden creates a rare atmosphere. Whether you come for the beauty of the garden, the uniqueness of the art, or simply to find a quiet moment, the exhibition offers something deeply nourishing.

Previous Presentations of Jharna-Kala

Sri Chinmoy’s artwork has been exhibited in many prestigious venues around the world, including the United Nations, the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, and galleries across Europe, Asia and America. Each exhibition carries the same core message: that art born of meditation can become a silent ambassador of peace and oneness.

Final Invitation

We warmly invite you to visit the Jharna-Kala Fountain Art exhibition in Prague this September. Let the video invitation inspire you, and then come and experience the art in person. In the quiet of the Vrtba Garden, surrounded by works that flow from inner silence, you may discover a moment of real peace.
