O My Heart #7: Sri Chinmoy Songs sung by Tanima

Welcome to this series sharing three beautiful songs from Sri Chinmoy’s “O My Heart” collection. Sri Chinmoy wrote thousands of heartfelt songs full of hope, thanks, and inner light. They’re simple melodies that speak straight to your heart, helping you feel calm, peaceful, and a little brighter – whether you’re meditating, relaxing, or just going about your day.

These songs from “O My Heart” carry that gentle, uplifting feeling. Tanima, a longtime student of Sri Chinmoy and one of the early singers in his community, performs them here with real warmth and care. Her gentle, soulful voice makes each song feel alive and easy to connect with.

You can just listen quietly, hum along, or let the melodies play softly in the background — they bring a soft, happy lift to your day.

Lyrics:

1. Amai Rakho Tomar Ghare

Amai rakho tomar ghare
Apan kare apan kare
Amai rakho tomar prane
Mukti shikhar dipta gane
Amai rakho tomar nabhe
Tumi kebal amar bhabe
Apan kare apan kare
Amai laho mantrabare

Translation:

Do keep me in Your home, in Your room,
     as Your very own.
Keep me in Your Heart with the illumined songs
     of liberation-flame.
Keep me in Your Heart, keep me in Your Sky.
You only are in my world.
Make me dear to You and make me Your very own.
Accept me with the boon of magic incantation.

– Sri Chinmoy, ‘Garden of Love-Light, part 2’ songbook

2. Amal Dhabal Pal Tulechhe

Amal dhabal pal tulechhe
Amar jiban tari
Kata jatri bhir karechhe
Ei taranir pari
Tumi dhare achho hal
Khule achhi ami pal
Tomar prane paran amar nache
Ami achhi nitya tomar kachhe

Translation:

My life-boat is about to sail with its purity-breath.
All the soulful pilgrims have arrived.
The boat will carry them.
Lord Supreme, You are the Pilot Absolute.
Therefore, our aspiration-cry shall, without fail, reach
The Golden Shore of Perfection-Satisfaction.

– Sri Chinmoy, ‘Supreme, Teach Me How to Surrender’ songbook

3. Amar Ankhir Asim Gehe Dharar Ankhi Raje

Amar ankhir asim gehe dharar ankhi raje

Translation:

In the infinite home of my eye, the Eye of
     the universe resides.
The joys and sorrows of each individual
are being played in my heart.
I am lifeless; again I am Immortal.
In the finite I exist as the friend of all.
I know again I am the lord of my life,
of my senses, of my realisation.

– Sri Chinmoy, ‘Garden of Love-Light, part 2’ songbook
