News #68: Sri Chinmoy Auckland Series – Race 7, Half & Quarter Marathon, 4.5 km, and Children’s 1.5 km

On Sunday, 14 September 2025, runners and walkers gathered in the beautiful Auckland Domain in New Zealand under a fine, breezy, early-spring sky for Race 7 of the Sri Chinmoy Auckland Series.

Race Highlights:

  • Half-Marathon (21.1 km): Nikolas Drakos finished first in 1:19:05, followed by Johnathon Hew (1:27:59) and Mark Andrew (1:33:07). In the women’s division, Lisa Harris won with 1:55:23, with Claire Twomey (2:08:30) and Daisy Hodder (2:09:47) placing second and third.
  • Quarter Marathon (10.55 km): Thirteen-year-old Abigail Bethell won outright in 43:58, breaking the women’s course record by over three minutes. She was followed by her mother Amanda Bethell (48:34) and Zara Benton (52:56). In the men’s quarter, the top three were Leo Ebner (45:51), Laxmikant Sinha (48:52), and Oscar Sheweiry (52:41).
  • 4.5 km Race: Christopher Rawles won the men’s race (21:54), with Tais Stevenson (25:27) and James McLennan (29:32) following. In the women’s race, Larissa Wildsmith claimed first (23:46), followed by Jeewon Kim (25:46) and Lisa Brown (29:30).
  • Children’s 1.5 km: In the boys’ category, Harvey Watson crossed in 6:54, followed by Villa Zhang (7:09) and Theo Maslin (8:18). In the girls’ category, Harriet Maslin won in 7:06, with Elsie Ward and Sienna Boyle tying at 8:26.

News #67: The 12th Annual Sri Chinmoy Peace-Mile 6-Hour Race – Munich, Germany, September 13, 2025

On September 13, 2025, Munich hosted the 12th Annual Sri Chinmoy Peace-Mile 6-Hour Race at Am Kapuzinerhölzl. This unique event invited both solo and relay participants to run as many laps as possible within a 6-hour window on a certified 1.58 km loop. The race is renowned for its welcoming atmosphere, excellent vegan catering, and supportive volunteers.

Participants demonstrated remarkable resilience and determination throughout the event. The event fostered a sense of community, with runners supporting each other throughout the day. The presence of relay teams added an element of teamwork and camaraderie, enhancing the overall experience for all involved.

News #66: The 18th Annual Self-Transcendence 4/21 km Race – Erdernet, Mongolia, September 13, 2025

On September 13, 2025, the 18th annual Erdenet Self-Transcendence Marathon was held in Erdenet, Mongolia. This tradition drew 100 runners in total: 83 competed over 4 km, and 17 pushed through the 21 km course. The morning brought heavy rain, yet despite the cold, wet conditions, runners showed up with courage and ran with pride from the start to the finish.

  • Youngest runner: A. Bundmaa, 9 years old (Erdenet 1st School)
  • Oldest runner: J. Odgiiv, 76 years old (Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team)

Deep appreciation to all who supported the event: the Orkhon Province Sports Department, Health Department, Orkhon Police Department, and the team at the “Khangard” Sports Complex. Thanks also to contributors from schools in Selenge and Orkhon, the Erdenet Ultra Club, “Elite Runners,” “Hurd Erdenet,” and many others whose participation made this a memorable community gathering.

News #64: Annual Sri Chinmoy Heart-Garden Run and Ceremony – October 12, 2025

On Sunday, October 12, 2025, the Sri Chinmoy Centre will hold the annual Heart-Garden Run and Ceremony at Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, New York. Flushing Meadows holds special meaning — on October 11, 2006, both Sri Chinmoy Peace Street and Sri Chinmoy Heart-Garden were dedicated, an occasion in which Sri Chinmoy was present.

The program:

  • 9:45 AM – Children’s fun runs (100m / 800m)
  • 10:00 am – Children’s Peace Run program (20-30 minutes)
  • 10:00 AM – 2-Mile Run/Walk begins
  • 10:30 AM – Heart-Garden Ceremony, including:
    • Peace Walk with the Peace Torch
    • Singing performances
    • Torch-Bearer Awards honouring distinguished guests for their contributions
    • Inspirational words by our guests
    • Gifts, refreshments, and mixing
