Video #243: Shamita Achenbach-Konig – 3100 Miles

Here’s an inspiring interview with Shamita, a dedicated member of the Sri Chinmoy Centre, recorded just two days before she completed her 3,100-mile solo run in Vienna, Austria. Shamita accomplished this incredible feat in 49 days, 9 hours, 56 minutes, and 7 seconds on October 28, 2024.

News #4: Borough President Richards at Sri Chinmoy Art Exhibit

An exhibit of Sri Chinmoy’s artwork was displayed in the hall, with large, colorful canvases set alongside a cutout of the Goddess Lakshmi. The exhibit was well-received, with many guests taking photos in front of the display as a memento of the evening. Borough President Richards also admired the paintings and requested a photo with members of the Sri Chinmoy Centre.

News #3: Queens Borough President Awards Citation of Honor to Sri Chinmoy Centre

On November 6, 2024, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards awarded a Citation of Honor to Ranjana on behalf of the Sri Chinmoy Centre, recognizing it as “an outstanding institution worthy of the esteem of the community, the Borough of Queens, and New York City.” During the ceremony, Ranjana presented President Richards with a special edition of Guru’s Garden of Love-Light, featuring poems in English, English transliteration, and Bengali script.

The award was part of a Diwali celebration at Borough Hall, where President Richards honored several organizations for their contributions to Queens. His remarks highlighted “outstanding residents who, through hard work and mutual respect, have built a wonderful community and made significant contributions to Queens.” Diwali, one of Hinduism’s major religious festivals, also holds significance in Jainism and Sikhism, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness.

The 2024 edition of the Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence Race saw Andrea Marcato win his 5th consecutive race in a time of – 43 days +03:04:06. The race, inspired by Sri Chinmoy, encompasses many unique stories of Self-Transcendence.
